Carlisle United boss Greg Abbott gives trialists chance
Abbott is looking at several players ahead of the new campaign
Carlisle United manager Greg Abbott has reassured the club's pre-season trialists they will be given time to impress during their spell at the club.
The latest player to link up with the Cumbrians is former Sheffield Wednesday defender Nick Wood, who was released by the Owls at the end of the season.
"The best time to judge players is in games, they'll get plenty of pitch time," Abbott told BBC Radio Cumbria.
"We give players time, if they're doing alright we'll keep them a bit longer."
Abbott added: "I never put myself under pressure to make quick decisions, as quick decisions are usually the wrong ones."
Wood, 19, is the brother of Coventry City defender Richard Wood.
Francois Zoko, Jake Simpson, Billy Gibson and Patrick Cregg are the four other players hoping to prove their worth to Abbott during the pre-season campaign.
