Carlisle United midfielder Tom Taiwo has revealed he would like to extend his six-month loan spell from Chelsea.

Taiwo, 19, has played 15 times for United since joining in July and when asked whether he would stay for longer, he said: "I don't see why I shouldn't.

"Everyone's been brilliant to me. They've all helped me and I find that I'm learning loads here," he told BBC Radio Cumbria.

"I love playing here in front of the fans and they're right behind us."

The former Leeds United academy player has endeared himself to Carlisle United supporters with a host of aggressive, tackle-heavy performances at the heart of the midfield.

"I love getting down and winning the ball back, it's something that not a lot of people really enjoy," he said.

"Because I do like it there's always a place in the team for players like that."

Taiwo joined Chelsea from Leeds in August 2008, and had a spell at Port Vale on loan under Lee Sinnott.
