Carlisle suffer Keogh injury blow

Richard Keogh
Keogh has been in impressive form for Carlisle this season

Carlisle United defender Richard Keogh could be set for a long spell on the sidelines after suffering ankle ligament damage.

Keogh, 23, sustained the injury during Tuesday night's 2-1 win against Stockport County at Edgeley Park.

The former Bristol City man, who looks certain to miss Saturday's visit of Exeter City, complained of discomfort during the second-half of the game.

He has been an ever-present in the Carlisle defence so far this season.

Keogh moved to Brunton Park last season on a two-year deal from Bristol City for an undisclosed fee.

Early indications are that he could be missing for weeks rather than days, although the club say a full assessment of the injury will follow once the swelling recedes.
