Kavanagh has not played for Sunderland since January

Carlisle United have extended the loan spell of Sunderland midfielder Graham Kavanagh until 3 January.

The 35-year-old originally moved to Brunton Park in Ocotber and has made 14 appearances for the Cumbrians, scoring three goals.

Carlisle manager Greg Abbott told the club website: "He's done a great job for us.

"When we get in to January we can maybe speak with Sunderland about keeping him for the rest of the season."
