Carlisle United are set to extend the loan stay of midfielder Graham Kavanagh by a further month.
The 35-year-old has scored three times in 13 appearances for the Cumbrians after joining on-loan from Sunderland in October.
"It looks like we're going to wrap something up with Graham," manager Greg Abbott told BBC Radio Cumbria.
"We have spoken to Sunderland and they have been great so it's a real positive for us."
Kavanagh's extended stay at Brunton Park will compensate for the disappointment of Chris Lumsdon's latest injury set back.
The 28-year-old is set to be sidelined until 2009 after suffering ankle ligament damage in the reserve's 3-2 win over Accrington Stanley.
Lumsdon had just returned from a long-term back problem that has prevented him from making a first-team start this season.
"I feel really sorry for Chris," Abbott said. "He's worked hard to get back into the squad and now he's injured again."
Abbott has confirmed that a decision on Kevin Gall's future is set to be made in January.
The 26-year-old, who has spent most of the season on-loan at Lincoln City, failed to score in 11 games for the Imps.
"He's back in training with us at the moment," Abbott added.
"But he can't play any games for us until the first of January."
"We'll then have a chat to see what he wants to do."
