Kavanagh had interest from two other clubs as well as Carlisle
Carlisle United's on-loan midfielder Graham Kavanagh believes he will only get stronger during his one-month stay at Brunton Park.
The 34-year-old impressed in his debut in Saturday's 3-1 defeat at MK Dons after joining from Sunderland.
"I know there's more to come from me," Kavanagh told BBC Radio Cumbria.
"I'm feeling fresh and now it's just a case of getting up to speed with the games and getting to know the other lads better."
The 3-1 defeat at Stadium:MK was The Cumbrians' sixth successive defeat in all competitions.
"Having lost the four previous games, the team felt we could have gone there and got the result," Kavanagh said.
"To have scored early on and lose was very disappointing."
There were a couple of other clubs interested but I'm glad I chose Carlisle
Graham Kavanagh
The former Republic of Ireland international, who has not yet made a first-team appearance for Sunderland this season, said he had no hesitation in joining Carlisle despite their recent results.
"I jumped at the chance to come here." he said.
"It's an opportunity to play first-team football and it's good to be back involved on a Saturday afternoon," Kavanagh said.
"The last few weeks have been difficult, sat watching the television watching the results coming in and being envious of people playing.
"There were a couple of other clubs interested but I'm glad I chose Carlisle and I just hope we can get a few results on the board over the next few weeks."
Kavanagh said he has been impressed with what he has seen so far during training with The Cumbrians.
"I played at this level for Cardiff a few years ago so I know there are a lot of good players in this division,
"Carlisle have a lot of good players and the team spirit is still good despite the defeats," he said.
Peterborough United provide the opposition for Carlisle at Brunton Park on Saturday with Kavanagh confident The Cumbrians can turn their fortunes around.
"Because we've lost five on the bounce in the league it's vitally important we get a result on Saturday," he added.
