Hackney joined Carlisle in 2005 from non league Woodley Sports |
Carlisle United midfielder Simon Hackney will be back for pre-season training in July after recovering from a serious knee injury. Hackney, 23, has been on the sidelines since December following surgery to repair damaged knee cartilage.
"My hunger is still there, and hopefully I'll come back fitter and stronger," he told BBC Radio Cumbria.
"I don't feel like I've got anything to prove. I just want to come back and do what I was doing before the injury."
Hackney made 21 appearances for the Cumbrians this season before spending time at Lilleshall Sports Injury Rehab following his operation.
He was signed in February 2005 from Woodley Sports after scoring twice in two reserve games while on trial at the club.
