Peter Whittingham has scored 42 goals in 158 Cardiff appearances
Cardiff City have rejected a bid from relegated Burnley for Championship joint top scorer Peter Whittingham.
Championship rivals Burnley are thought to have offered £1.75m for the 25-goal left-winger but the defeated play-off finalists have turned it down.
Nottingham Forest are also interested in the 25-year-old, who is in the final year of his Bluebirds contract.
But Burnley, relegated from the Premier League last season, want Whittingham and are considering a second move.
The former England under-21 international, who signed for a cut-price £250,000 from Premier League side Aston Villa in January 2007, is courting attention due to his goal heroics last season.
Whittingham scored Championship 20 goals last season - joint top with Bristol City striker Nicky Maynard.
He also hit the woodwork nine times and chipped in with 10 assists to help make Cardiff the fourth top scorers in the Championship.
