Cambridge striker Danny Wright calms injury worries
Wright played 25 Conference games for Histon last season
Danny Wright says his injury problems are in the past as he prepares for his first season with Cambridge United.
The 25-year-old striker had a stop-start campaign for Histon last term because of ongoing issues with his ankles and hamstrings.
"I feel good injury wise," he told BBC Radio Cambridgeshire.
"I've been struggling a bit with the fitness. My ankles and hamstrings have felt good though so I don't see why I can't have a good start to the season."
Wright is in his first summer at a full-time club, having spent three years at part-time Cambridgeshire neighbours Histon.
"This is the season for me where I need to shine in this league," he added. "Being at a full-time club makes a hell of a difference to me as a player.
"With the club that I'm at and the competition we've got here I don't see why I can't push on and have a good season."
U's boss Martin Ling is known to be looking for another forward to compliment his current attacking options of Wright, new signing Daryl Clare and youngster Adam Marriott.
Wright is up for the challenge of winning a place in the side but is also keen to strike up a partnership with Clare, who was signed from Gateshead in June.
"He's there to score goals for Cambridge," he said. "With his experience he can help me out as well, but I'm trying to learn things off everybody and get out as much as I can."
