Cambridge can get better - Potter

Cambridge goalkeeper Danny Potter believes United still have room for improvement despite their excellent recent form.

Saturday's 4-1 win over Northwich Victoria extended the U's unbeaten run to 10 games.

Potter told BBC Radio Cambridgeshire: "We're always striving to achieve just that little bit more and we all want to be the best we can be."

"We've been doing well, we just need a bit of consistency over 90 minutes."

Cambridge currently lie second in the Blue Square Premier, five points behind leaders Burton, who have two games in hand.

The Brewers have picked up just one point from their last four games to give Cambridge renewed hope of winning automatic promotion, but Potter is taking nothing for granted.

"You have to aim as high as you can and of course we'd love to go up automatically, but nothing is cut and dried," said the 29-year-old.

"Burton's title isn't cut and dried and neither is our place in the play-offs, a lot can happen between now and the end of the season."

Potter believes Tuesday's opponents Barrow will present a similar sort of challenge to the weekend's clash with relegation threatened Northwich.

The U's claimed a hard fought 4-1 win at the Abbey on Saturday.

"Barrow are fighting for their lives and it's going to be a case of all of us rolling our sleeves up," Potter said.

"We don't want to get involved in the battle, we need to play the way we like to play football."

Striker Lee Phillips remains an injury doubt, so Chris Holroyd and Scott Rendell look set to continue up front.

Meanwhile, the club have announced the addition of director Renford Sargent and associate director Richard Smith to the board.

Sargent has enjoyed a previous spell on the board whilst Smith has also served in the past on both the main board and as an associate director.
