Ryan Lowe happy to adapt to new role for Bury

Lowe was Bury's top scorer last season with 18 goals

Bury forward Ryan Lowe admits that it is taking time to adapt to his new position in Alan Knill's team.

The 31-year old is used to playing a striker but has found himself adapting to a role behind the frontmen.

"The gaffer said I can do that job and I know I can but it's not just going to click over night," said Lowe.

"There are times when I get frustrated in myself because my final ball should be better but I'll work on it," he told BBC Radio Manchester.

"I'm not complaining. I'd like to play up top as I'm a centre forward. But, as long as I'm doing a job for the team and the manager's happy with me, then I'm more than happy to do that role."

Lowe began his career with non-league Burscough before joining Shrewsbury in 2000 and had a stint with Crewe as well as two spells with Chester.

The Liverpudlian, who joined Bury in June 2009, has turned to the club he supports to learn from one of their players.

"I've been looking at Joe Cole at Liverpool," he said. "I'm a big Liverpool fan, and I've been watching him play that role.

"Sometimes it's tough as you're on the move all the time as you're trying to get into space. You've got to make things happen but also I still need to get up there and score my fair share of goals."
