Ryan Lowe had been linked to several other North West clubs
Bury have signed striker Ryan Lowe from relegated Chester City.
The 30-year-old, Chester's 18-goal top scorer last season in his second spell at the club, still had two years left on his contract at the Deva Stadium.
But he was allowed to leave City following their second exit from the Football League in nine years.
And the Liverpudlian has signed a two-year deal at Gigg Lane in the hope of helping beaten League Two play-off finalists Bury got a step further.
Lowe started his career with non-league Burscough before joining Shrewsbury Town in July 2000.
He made 194 appearances for the Shropshire club, scoring 37 goals.
He moved to Chester in March 2005 before joining Crewe Alexandra in July 2006 on a free transfer - but he returned to the Deva last summer.
Ben Futcher and Richie Baker have both signed extensions to their contracts at Bury.
