Bishop set for another operation

Andy Bishop
Bishop has been Bury's top scorer for the last three seasons

Bury striker Andy Bishop will undergo further surgery which could leave him sidelined for another six weeks.

The 26-year-old, who scored 16 goals last season, had a hernia operation in the summer and has only featured six times this season.

Shakers boss Alan Knill told the club's website: "Andy now has abductor problems which is in the groin area.

"He had a double hernia operation in the summer and whether this has followed on from that is unclear."

Bury have also confirmed midfielder Damien Allen may also require surgery on his groin.

Meanwhile, captain Paul Scott is stepping up his return to fitness after resuming training on Thursday.

Knill added: "He is weeks away yet. He may be okay for the bench but he is way off starting a game. Andy Morrell is the same."
