Burton Albion manager Nigel Clough was not happy with his side's performance despite beating Lewes 5-2 on Saturday.
Clough told BBC Radio Derby: "Teams aren't having to do enough to score against us at the moment.
"We were lethargic at times and were not quite sharp enough with our passing but we did sharpen it up and then created chances."
He said he hoped the defence would improve when Jake Buxton and Tony James return from injury.
Clough said: "Both goals that were conceded came from our possession and until the fifth goal went in we didn't feel particularly secure."
The Brewers face Wrexham on Tuesday.
