Clough is keen to add to his squad before the season starts
Burton Albion manager Nigel Clough has said there is interest from league clubs in young defender John Brayford.
The 20-year-old has impressed since coming through the youth ranks, and Crystal Palace are rumoured to be keen.
Clough told BBC Radio Derby: "Anybody at this level and at his sort of age attracts an awful lot of interest.
"We'd love to see him go not just one league up but two or three, because potentially that's the sort of level we think he can perform at."
Clough insists any deal would have to suit all parties though.
"It's got to be right for the player first and foremost, but we've also got to look after the club.
Burton would insist on putting a sell-on clause into any deal that takes Brayford away from the Blue Square Premier club.
"If he does progress in later years and does get sold on again then because of the development we've put in for the last few years the club should be rewarded.
Clough currently has just sixteen players at the club but is looking at adding to that soon.
"We've still got a few weeks to get players in permanently and then there's the possibility of loan signings.
"We're looking at players all the time so we won't be stuck at sixteen come the start of the season."
Burton have midfielder Jonty Richter training with them, as well as Walsall striker David McDermott who will play some part in the pre-season friendly with Derby on Wednesday.
