Clough looking for help
Burton player-manager Nigel Clough
Clough is unhappy with his side's defending
Burton Albion's player-manager Nigel Clough hopes to sign a new defender to stop the Brewers slipping further into relegation danger.

Clough's side crashed to a 7-4 home defeat to Telford on Saturday and are now seven points above the drop-zone, having played a game more than many of the sides around them.

Clough still hopes to sign Kidderminster Harriers midfielder Andy Ducros and has targeted a defensive target in a bid to stop the rot after an eighth home defeat of the season.

"This has been coming for weeks," he said. "We will get relegated defending like that. Teams that concede seven at home are going to be down there.

"We created chances and felt we were going to score goals but we never felt confident enough to keep them out because of the way we defended.

"As each week goes by, we are proving that we are not good enough. We have only won two at home in the league all season and it's the second week in February.

"That's a trend, not a fluke, and that's why we are in a relegation battle," Clough told the Derby Evening Telegraph.
