Burnley defender Clarke Carlisle says his three-match ban has given him time to think about his future conduct.
Carlisle was dismissed just seven minutes into the Clarets' 1-1 draw with Millwall on 2 October.
"It's a long time to sit on the sidelines and mull over what happened and not have a chance to put it right," he told BBC Radio Lancashire.
"But it serves as a little remedy to make sure that you don't put yourself in that situation again."
Burnley lost their appeal against referee Keith Stroud's decision, something the Preston-born player admits he has reflected on several times since.

"I played the challenge through in my mind once and it was never a sending off," he said. "But what's gone my mind around 70 times is the letter I put through in my appeal and how I could have worded it differently.
"So I need to make sure that I'm more clean cut from hereon in and keep myself out of those positions in which referee's can impose any kind of sanction on my behaviour."
Carlisle is in the squad for Burnley's Carling Cup Fourth Round tie against Aston Villa on Wednesday.
