Burnley lose appeal over Clarke Carlisle sending off

Burnley have lost their appeal against the decision to send off defender Clarke Carlisle during the 1-1 draw with Millwall.

Carlisle was shown a straight red card seven minutes into Saturday's Championship match at the New Den for a challenge on Theo Robinson.

Clarets manager Brian Laws told the club website: "We are disappointed with the outcome.

"We felt the decision was harsh but we have to accept it and move on."

The 30-year-old will now miss the Clarets' Championship fixtures against Sheffield United, Barnsley and Reading later this month.
