Burnley must stick to their tactics, says Robbie Blake

Burnley striker Robbie Blake believes they would be wrong to change their attacking philosophy away from home.

A section of fans have criticised the team for being too open after conceding 25 goals away from Turf Moor in their debut season in the Premier League.

"The manager has assembled a good group of players who like to go and attack," Blake told BBC Radio Lancashire.

"He shouldn't have any doubters about where we've come from and he's going to keep playing the same way."

Burnley will be hoping to pick up three points at Portsmouth on Saturday.

Their only point on the road so far came in the 3-3 draw against Manchester City in November.

But, although Blake sees no reason why they cannot add to the misery currently surrounding Fratton Park, he is refusing to accept the result is a foregone conclusion.

"Although Portsmouth were beaten 4-1 by Manchester United [on Saturday] they had plenty of chances," he said.

"I've seen them a few times this season on TV and they've looked a good side.

"Obviously they've not had the rub of the green which is what you get when you're in those situations, and hopefully that will continue on Saturday.

"But I don't think the manager [Owen Coyle] appreciates teams sitting back and trying to get a point or try and keep it to a respectable 1-0 defeat.

"He goes to places fully believing his group of players can cause upsets."
