Manager Owen Coyle has revealed his attempts to strengthen Burnley's defensive options have so far failed.
The Clarets boss had tried to sign two defenders without success and he admitted he is still undecided on his first-choice back four.
"We've been thwarted once or twice this week, but we'll continue that search," Coyle told BBC Radio Lancashire.
"We want to add some depth in that backline, as well as adding a little bit of quality."
The Clarets have conceded seven goals in their first two games.
Coyle said: "We're still searching for that back four that will convince everybody that I'm here to stay in the team.
"When you lose the two games as we have done, then you're always going to try and shuffle things about until people take responsibility."
You will be able to hear full commentary on Burnley's game with Crystal Palace live on BBC Radio Lancashire this weekend.
