Burnley manager Owen Coyle insists that the Clarets are unlikely to sign winger Aleksandr Solovjovs unless his club Olimps Riga lower their asking price.
The 20-year-old impressed during a pre-season trial, but Coyle said the deal to bring in the Latvian on a full-time basis has stalled.
"What they're asking for is a bit more than what we're wanting to pay," he told BBC Radio Lancashire.
"I wouldn't say the door's closed but we won't be doing anything imminently."
