It's too close to call - Unsworth

Burnley's David Unsworth reckons that in his 16 years in the game he has never known such a close campaign as the 2008 Championship promotion race.

With the majority of clubs having four games to go, as many as 13 teams still have a chance of securing promotion to the Premier League.

And Unsworth told BBC Radio Lancashire. "If you're a betting man, you wouldn't touch the Championship.

"For every team, in terms of results, it really has been inconsistent."

It's as open a season as it's ever been

The 34-year-old former Everton, West Ham and (briefly) Aston Villa veteran was part of Sheffield United's squad which won promotion to the Premier League in 2006. But he admits this season has been vastly different, with automatic promotion and play-off places changing hands on a weekly basis.

"Two years ago we got promoted at Sheffield United and literally by Christmas we were never out of the top two," recalls Unsworth. "Ourselves and Reading ran away with it.

"But this year we go in to the last four games and nobody has got any idea who's going to win the league and who's going to get in to the play-offs.

"It's as open a season as it's ever been."

Unsworth will face his former club this weekend when the Clarets take on Sheffield United at Turf Moor. And he has admitted that Burnley must win the match to have any chance of reaching the play-offs.

"I think we have to win all of our four games," he said. "We know that and we'll be making sure we have a good go and, if we do, we've got half a chance."
