Patterson was Oxford's youth-team coach for four years
Bristol Rovers have appointed former Oxford United boss Darren Patterson as their new head of youth.
Oxford sacked Patterson in November, after just over a year in charge, with United 16th in the Blue Square Premier.
The 39-year-old had been at Oxford as a player and in various coaching roles, including as youth-team coach, for over seven years.
He also played for Northern Ireland, Wigan, Crystal Palace, Luton Town, Preston, Dundee United and York City.
He had one of the shortest managerial spells in Football League history with Oxford in March 2006, being demoted back to youth-team coach after eight days, following a takeover and the appointment of Jim Smith as manager.
He took over for a second time in November 2007, from Smith, but finished with a record of 24 wins and 24 defeats from 59 games and left Oxford in relegation trouble, before being replaced on a caretaker basis by Smith.
