Coles joined Rovers last November, initially on loan
Bristol Rovers have rejected two bids from Championship side Plymouth for central defender Danny Coles.
Scouts were understood to be watching the 26-year-old again as Rovers drew 1-1 with Torquay on Saturday.
"We're trying to build a team for the Championship and not rip it apart, and we want him to stay," first-team coach Paul Trollope told BBC Radio Bristol.
"We haven't received any fresh bids from Plymouth - whether they do is their business."
Bristolian Coles only moved to Rovers last season from Hull City after a successful loan spell.
"As far as we're concerned he's a big player for us, and he's going to play a huge part in our future," Trollope added.
"He says he's happy here but there's a part of him that wants to play in the Championship and it's up to us to persuade him he can go there with us, and we're very confident of doing that."
