Bristol City boss Keith Millen says he withdrew from signing an unnamed player on loan because of the "ridiculous" fee requested by the parent club.
Millen has not yet added to his squad in the January transfer window.
He told the City club website: "We haven't got anyone in yet. I spent all Sunday on the phone and thought I was close to getting someone in.
"In the end the club concerned came back to me with a ridiculous loan fee so that one is dead and buried."
Millen added: "We're trying to get players in and if doesn't happen then it's not for the want of trying."
