Chilcott hopes City can still win automatic promotion

Former Bath and England rugby player Gareth Chilcott says that whatever happens this season, nobody should forget how well Bristol City have done.

"In September we were all thinking 'let's just stay up'," the lifelong City fan told BBC Points West.

"It's been a great season for Bristol City whatever happens. But we're still in the mix, although we need to beat Stoke which will be a tough one."

"It's a league that no-one seems to want to win."

If we win at Stoke, maybe the dream's still alive

Chilcott also hopes that Gary Johnson's team do not come to regret their patchy form towards the start of their Championship campaign.

"This season's been a bit like a round of golf - at the end of it, you're thinking 'why didn't I a bit more care on that putt on the third or fourth, I'm just too many strokes out now'," he added.

"I think some of the games we lost or drew earlier in the season are coming back to haunt us. But somewhere in me, in my heart, says if we win at Stoke maybe the dream's still alive."
