Bristol City manager Gary Johnson has watched rivals Watford and Stoke this week and feels that coping with the pressure is key to earning promotion.
"We watched those games and they're having a nervy time as well as ourselves," he told BBC Points West.
"I think when you get so close to that finishing line, a lot of the teams seem to have a little bit of a jittery spell in all leagues," Johnson added.
"That's happening definitely in our league, because it means so much."
Results this week have mostly gone City's way, with Stoke losing at home to Crystal Palace and relegation-threatened Barnsley getting the better of Watford.
Only West Bromwich Albion have failed to oblige the Robins, winning 3-1 at Blackpool to take their place at the top of the Championship.
"It is a close league so, we've got the points, we're up there still, second on goal difference to West Brom, we are where we are and we've just got to keep going," said Johnson.
"To hit a bit of form now would be fantastic, we certainly haven't hit our form in the last four or five games but nobody else has either.
"And it's the two teams with the most points at the end of the season that get promoted and we just hope it's us, by hook or by crook, through good form or bad form, good luck or bad luck."
Johnson was bitterly disappointed by City's performance to lose 2-0 at Southampton last Saturday, and has been putting in the hours to try and affect a turnaround in his team's fortunes.
"We didn't have any part of the team performing, and so we've definitely gone back to basics.
"We've done a lot of work on the training ground and a lot of work in the classroom as well and we think that the boys have responded to that, but we'll only know at three o'clock on Saturday."
