Brighton & Hove Albion defender Tommy Elphick may miss the start of the Championship season after undergoing surgery on an Achilles injury.
The 23-year-old was stretchered off in Brighton's 1-1 draw away to Notts County on Saturday.
Elphick underwent surgery on Monday and the newly-promoted club are awaiting the results of his operation.
But Seagulls manager Gus Poyet has already ruled Elphick out of the first game at the club's new Amex Stadium.
