Brighton goalkeeper Peter Brezovan has been offered a contract until the end of the season.
The six-foot six 30-year-old joined on a short-term deal earlier this month after being released by League One rivals Swindon Town in the summer.
"I want him to stay with because he's been good," Brighton boss Gus Poyet told BBC Sussex. "He's good competition for Michel Kuipers.
"I think it's important we maintain the group that's been getting better."
Brezovan is happy with the offer and is confident that he can agree a new deal with Poyet.
"It's great," he said. "I was expecting that and I'm glad he's offered me a new contract.
"I said to him I would like to stay here. It's about details and we can sort it out.

"That's what I want. It's a great opportunity for me and I'd like to make a new deal."
Meanwhile, Poyet is also in talks with Arsenal over extending the loan of defender Gavin Hoyte.
Poyet is also looking at former Brighton players George O'Callaghan and Seb Carole, who have joined the club on a trial basis.
One player on the way out is defender Jake Wright, who has signed a loan deal until the end of the season with Blue Square Premier side Oxford United.
