Brighton's outgoing chairman Dick Knight admits stepping down after 12 years is hard to do.
Knight has made way for multi-millionaire Tony Bloom, who is funding the majority of the cost of their new stadium at Falmer.
He told BBC Sussex: "It's one of the saddest days of my life because being the chairman of the Albion has been the most rewarding period of my life.
"To me it's been an honour and a privilege," he added.
"There are too many highlights to name any one, but obviously the stadium stands out for me, and the community part of our club. I'm immensely proud of that."
