Brighton's medical staff are confident defender Jim McNulty will play for the club again, despite having his right kidney removed.
The 24-year-old full-back was injured in the defeat to Crewe on 28 February and underwent surgery on Friday.
"The idea was to save the kidney if we could but the damage was too great," Brighton physio Malcolm Stuart told the club's website.
"We see no reason why he should not return to full fitness."
