Mills' club were insistent that he had done nothing wrong
Rotherham captain Pablo Mills has been cleared of wrongdoing, following the clash that left Brentford's Nathan Elder with facial injuries.
Elder suffered a fractured eye socket and cheekbone after an aerial challenge with Mills during Saturday's 0-0 draw.
The Bees reported Mills to the Football Association about the clash, but they have cleared midfielder Mills.
Elder is unlikely to have vision in his left eye for several months, according to Bees manager Andy Scott.
Millers chief operating official Paul Douglas told the club website: "We are pleased with the ruling. Everyone at the club would like to reiterate that our thoughts and best wishes are with Nathan and we hope he makes a speedy and full recovery."
On Monday, Scott told his club website: "I feel it's my duty as his manager, to the club and to every player, that it doesn't go unpunished.
"Whatever the outcome, Nathan's season is over, but what we all can promise is that we will do everything in our power to make sure the next time he pulls on a Brentford shirt, it will be in League One."
Rotherham boss Mark Robins had told BBC Radio Sheffield: "All Pablo has tried to do is win the ball. When I saw the challenge first hand it looked like a strong challenge to say the least but Pablo is looking at the ball.
"Pablo didn't swing his elbow but there was always going to be contact. There was no way that Pablo would intend to hurt or injure an opposing player.
"It's a horrendous injury and I wish Nathan a speedy recovery."
Referee Karl Evans took no action following the incident, which resulted in Elder spending the weekend in hospital.
