Halls played only six games for Reading in over two years at the club

Brentford have signed former Arsenal and Reading defender John Halls.

The 26-year-old, who began his career with the Gunners, was released by the Royals in the summer and had been on trial with Sheffield Wednesday.

Hall spent most of last season on loan, enjoying spells at Preston, Crystal Palace and Sheffield United.

Brentford manager Andy Scott has revealed that the deal allows Halls to leave Griffin Park should a club from a higher level become interested.
