Martin Johnston was joint top scorer in Division Three |
Brechin City have completed the signing of Elgin City striker Martin Johnston and Cowdenbeath midfielder Gary Fusco. Johnston has signed a two-year contract, while Fusco has been given one year, but talks continue with Elgin midfielder Adam Nelson.
Central defenders Scott Walker, John Ward and Chris Hughes have extended their contracts for another season.
Goalkeeper Craig Nelson has signed a two-year deal, while defender David Murie stays for another season.
Stuart Callaghan is in discussions about a one-year contract.
And fellow midfielder Grant Johnson, who missed much of the season through injury, will consider his future over the summer, although manager Michael O'Neill is hopeful that the 35-year-old "will return to the club in some capacity".
New signing Johnston finished top scorer in Division Three with 18 goals for Elgin this season, despite his side struggling near the foot of the table.
Brechin say they beat a host of clubs to the striker's signature.
The 28-year-old, once also of Peterhead, joined Elgin from Cove Rangers in 2005.
Nelson, a 22-year-old previously of Blackburn Rovers, is also out of contract with Elgin.
Fusco, previously of Berwick Rangers and Musselburgh Athletic, broke back into the first-team with Cowdenbeath in March.
Now the 24-year-old, who can play in midfield or right-back, will oppose the Blue Brazil in Division Two next season.
The new signings are a boost after Brechin lost three players to Third Division Stenhousemuir.
Striker Steven Hampshire, goalkeeper John Hillcoat and midfielder Steven Ferguson all rejected new contracts with Brechin.
Also leaving Brechin through work commitments is defender Ross Archibald.
Defender Stuart Ferguson and midfielders Scott Devlin and Steve McManus have been released.
Manager O'Neill has given midfielder Steven McManus and wide man Matthew Flynn the pre-season to win new contracts.
