McCall agrees new Bradford deal

McCall is in his third spell at Bradford as player and manager

Bradford manager Stuart McCall has committed his immediate future to the club by signing a new two-year deal.

The 44-year-old, in his second year as boss, told BBC Radio Leeds: "I want to be at this club, I love the challenge.

"Hopefully everything we've strived for can come to fruition in the summer. I'm desperate to bring success to the people here.

"Since coming out of the Premiership it has been a steady decline and I hope we can start going the right way."

He added: "At this moment in time we're in a handy position and it's all systems go for the final third of the season."

McCall began his professional career at Valley Parade, making his senior debut in 1982.

After successful spells with Everton and Rangers, he returned to Bradford as captain, helping them to promotion to the top flight.

Four years later he moved to Sheffield United before retiring as a player in 2005.

He got his first taste of management during his second spell at Bradford, including one stint in caretaker charge in 2000.

He served as assistant to Neil Warnock at Sheffield United before returning to Bradford for a third time, this time as manager in June 2007.

The Bantams are currently sixth in League Two, just a point outside the automatic promotion places, and McCall said that part of his reason for signing a new deal was to bring success to the club where his career started.

"People look at you starting in the lower divisions as a stepping stone but I think everyone who knows me knows that's not been the case," he added.

"I can satisfy my managerial aims at this club. Yes, I want to manage in the Championship or higher up some day but I believe I can do it here and that would give me more satisfaction than anything."
