Bradford City manager Stuart McCall has demanded more from his players after Tuesday's 1-0 defeat at Bury.
Bradford are still looking for their first win of 2009 and have slipped outside the League Two play-off spots.
McCall told BBC Radio Leeds: "I think we got what we deserved - not enough people turned up tonight.
"They just wanted it more it seemed, which I can't put up with. I think there were four or five in the first half who just didn't fancy it."
McCall added: "We defended okay, but it certainly wasn't good enough. Give credit to Bury, they worked their socks off, closed us down, didn't give us any chances, defended well and were right at it tonight.
"We've got 19 or whatever games left and we've got to be at it like they were tonight from now until the end of the season.
"Yes, we've got quality players in the side but when that comes up against endeavour, strength and desire then that isn't enough.
"You need to show more than we did tonight, especially going forward.
"It's not good enough and it's frustrating when you put in a performance like you do at Luton and then come to Bury and just don't turn up most of us."
