Cummings had not played a competitive game since March 2005 |
Bournemouth boss Sean O'Driscoll was pleased to see defender Warren Cummings finally return to competitive action, 17 months after breaking his leg. The 25-year-old was a late substitute in the 3-0 defeat by Chesterfield.
"He's a bright character - he wasn't going to change the game at that point, but it was just a case of giving him a run-out," boss Sean O'Driscoll said.
"He's done well in pre-season and he got a good ovation from the supporters, so it's another step on the road back."
Cummings was injured in a game at Swindon in March 2005, and endured several false dawns before finally returning against the Spireites.
The Scot signed a new one-year contract in the summer.
