Blackpool striker DJ Campbell fears relegation threat

Blackpool striker DJ Campbell is hoping to avoid a hat-trick of relegations when the Seasiders travel to champions Manchester United on Sunday.

Campbell was part of the Birmingham team relegated from the Premier League in 2006 and also with Leicester from the Championship in 2008.

"I'm trying to let the lads know it's not a nice feeling to be relegated," Campbell told BBC Radio Lancashire.

"I've had two relegations in my career so I don't want another one."

Blackpool are currently in the drop zone by virtue of an inferior goal difference and need other results to go their way to survive.

The London-born forward says he feels for all fans involved with a struggling club.

It's not just about thinking about us as a team, it's thinking about everyone involved with Blackpool

"The problem with football is that when you do get in these situations it's not nice on people who do really care about the club," said the 29-year-old.

"I know from when I was a fan how hard it is and it must be so gut-wrenching on them when you get games like this.

"You see people on TV crying when their team goes down and it's like somebody's torn their heart out.

"It's not just about thinking about us as a team, it's thinking about everyone involved with Blackpool."

There will be full commentary from Old Trafford on Manchester United v Blackpool on BBC Radio Lancashire from 1600 BST on Sunday.
