Blackburn Rovers appoint David Lowe to academy staff
Former Wigan and Leicester striker David Lowe has joined Blackburn as the club's head of youth coaching.
The 45-year-old, who also had spells with Port Vale and Wrexham, joins Rovers after a spell coaching the Tranmere Rovers first team.
Lowe told BBC Radio Lancashire: "Since I've been here I've been impressed with the set-up and the coaching staff.
"I can't wait to get going and try to improve both the players and the coaching staff."
Lowe's role will be to oversee the club's under-18 team as well as being responsible for the training of his coaching team.
"We'll be looking to improve the scholars as best we can and hopefully push them through to the development squad.
"Going further down we'll be looking at all of the players and assessing their ability and progress. And, also the coaches, we want to improve them and give them some good knowledge and information.
"There's a lot of emphasis on coaching in this country at the moment and hopefully we'll be able to point them in the right direction regarding qualifications."
