Horton batted for over four hours for his 99 at Trent Bridge |
Lancashire batsman Paul Horton says he is not concerned about failing to convert his high scores into centuries. The 28-year-old was dismissed for 99 in his first innings against Nottinghamshire, the third time this season he has been out in the 90s. "It is frustrating. If you get to 90 you want to go on and get a hundred," he told BBC Radio Lancashire. "If people looked and saw three centuries they would be talking about me differently." Horton added: "It's disappointing to get so close and not get one more run but I was very happy with the way I played and if I got that ball when I was five not out it still would have got me out. "To get 92, 93 and then 99 in the first eight games I wouldn't say is disappointing but its a shame not to go on and get a hundred." Horton, who was born in Australia, joined Lancashire in 2003 and has hit 12 first-class centuries so far. "It's not really been an issue for me, its just the way the game falls sometimes and I was happy to play the way I did for so long, I'll move on," he said.
