Sherwood captained Blackburn to the Premier League title in 1995
Blackburn's title winning captain Tim Sherwood believes his old club will edge out Burnley in Sunday's east Lancashire derby at Ewood Park.
The 40-year-old former midfielder played for Blackburn between 1992 and 1999 but never played against the club's oldest rivals.
He told BBC Radio Lancashire: "I think Blackburn will nick it. Sam [Allardyce] will get them right up for it.
"I just think they are that bit stronger physically."
"Owen Coyle likes to set his team out to play nice pretty football and they can certainly do that especially at Turf Moor.
"I just think Sam, along with David Dunn will be firing the boys up in the dressing room. I think they might bully Burnley at the weekend but it'll only be by the odd goal."
After winning promotion with Blackburn in 1992 and going on to lift the Premier League at Anfield in 1995, Sherwood has admitted that he missed out playing against Burnley during his Rovers career.
He said: "Unfortunately that game wasn't around during my time at Blackburn. It hasn't been for a number of years.
"I know for sure the intensity that is involved off the field with the supporters there, it will be a great game to watch, even better to play in though.
"It's hard for people on the outside to really appreciate it but the people of Lancashire know what it means to them. This is the biggest game in a long time for Blackburn Rovers."
