Jansen says playing for Rovers again is his "ultimate ambition"
Blackburn boss Paul Ince has been impressed by Matt Jansen as the forward bids to earn a Rovers contract.
Jansen, 31, is training with the club after two-and-a-half years out of the game with injury problems.
Ince said: "If you have the chance to get someone like Matt fit and see if he can slot into our first-team set-up, it has to be worth it.
"He had a couple of sessions with the first team and hasn't looked out of place," he told the club website.
He added: "Matty has been out of the game for a while but he's kept himself fit and has come in here hitting the ground running. Each week he will get better and better."
Ince has set no deadline on making a decision about whether to sign Jansen, who could join outside of the transfer window as he does not have a club.
The former Bolton man, who only started 16 Premier League games following a motorcycle crash in 2002, has recently rediscovered the desire to play again after losing interest in the game.
