Tugay signs for a seventh season at Ewood |
Blackburn's Turkey international midfielder Tugay has signed a new one-year contract. The new deal will give the 36-year-old a seventh season at Rovers, whose 10th-place Premiership finish led to them missing out on a Uefa Cup spot.
During his time at Blackburn, Tugay has made more than 230 appearances and scored 10 goals.
Tugay was signed by former Rovers boss Graeme Souness for 1.3m from Rangers in 2001.
He had previously played under Souness during the Scot's spell in Turkey with Galatasaray.
Tugay announced his retirement from international football in November 2003, having made his debut for Turkey in 1990 against the Republic of Ireland, but returned to the national side in February this year and helped them beat Georgia.
He is now set to end his 17-year international career when Turkey face Brazil in a friendly on 5 June.
