Blackburn defender Craig Short is set to see out his career at Ewood Park after signing a 12-month contract extension.

The 35-year-old insists his age will be no barrier to him continuing to compete for a first-team place.

Short's fellow central defender Henning Berg is to retire in the summer.

Short told the club's official website: "I don't feel ready to finish playing, I love it here and I never had an inkling to go anywhere else.

"We have the best facilities I have known and I am delighted to look forward to an extended stay."
