Birmingham City's Maik Taylor has "nothing to prove"
Taylor has made 237 appearances for Blues since leaving Fulham
Birmingham's veteran goalkeeper Maik Taylor knows his first-team comeback against Manchester City will be nothing more than a one-off.
The Northern Ireland international steps in for in-form Joe Hart, who is ineligible to face his parent club.
"It doesn't matter if I get 10 out of 10, Joe will still be in the following week," Taylor told BBC WM.
"He deserves to be, he's had a fantastic season and I just have to take it on the chin."
It's an opportunity for me but I've nothing to prove to anyone
Maik Taylor on facing Manchester City
The former Fulham keeper is one of a number of Blues players with uncertain futures, but he knows the door remains open for him at St Andrew's.
"I've had a brief chat with the club, and they'd like to keep me on for another year," said the 38-year old.
"We've yet to sit down properly and speak about things but hopefully it can be sorted before the summer and I can look forward to next season."
Taylor's last first-team appearance under Alex McLeish came at the start of November in the corresponding fixture against City, and he would be more than happy to repeat his clean sheet from that game.
"I knew I was always going to play in this game, it's an opportunity for me but I've nothing to prove to anyone," he added.
"I just hope I can contribute and the lads can continue their good form towards the end of the season."
