Carr played the final 13 games of Blues' promotion campaign
Former Spurs and Newcastle defender Stephen Carr has signed a two-year contract with Birmingham City.
Carr, 32, came out of retirement in February to play a key part in Blues' Championship promotion campaign.
"He has done well - his hunger has been superb ever since he arrived," said Blues boss Alex McLeish.
"He is a fully motivated player with the kind of quality that counts in the Premier League - he's always positive and he has got a winner's attitude."
After a successful trial, the former Republic of Ireland international figured in City's final 13 games, the last of which saw them finally clinch automatic promotion with a dramatic win at Reading.
Carr came in and nailed the position - that experience told
Blues boss Alex McLeish
"Right-back was a problem position for us the whole of last season due to injuries. Nicky Hunt came in on loan and did a good job for us, but then Bolton recalled him.
"But Carr came in and nailed the position, and in the crucial closing stages of our quest for Premier League status that experience told," McLeish commented.
