Blues fail to overturn Taylor red

Maik Taylor after seeing red
Taylor has been an ever-present in the Championship this season

Birmingham will be without goalkeeper Maik Taylor for Saturday's trip to Watford after the Football Association upheld his red card against Plymouth.

Blues' appeal against the dismissal of the Northern Ireland international was heard by the FA regulatory commission.

They ruled that the DVD evidence was not enough to determine a "serious and obvious error had been made" by referee Michael Oliver.

Taylor will be suspended for one game, returning to face Preston on 25 April.

Colin Doyle is likely to deputise at Vicarage Road after taking over between the posts during Bank Holiday Monday's 1-1 at St Andrew's.
