Jerome hails Birmingham revival

Cameron Jerome
Jerome has only found the net six times this season for Birmingham

Birmingham City striker Cameron Jerome is confident about his side's promotion prospects following their recent return to winning ways in the Championship.

After a run of one win in six games, the Blues have won their last two matches and are second in the table.

"We're full of confidence and I think it showed in the last couple of home games," Jerome told BBC WM.

"It's all about results - performances are not the be-all and end-all, it's all about getting the three points."

Jerome, 22, has not scored since 6 December but has played an important part in his side's revival, including helping to set up Keith Fahey's winner against Southampton on Saturday.

Fellow strikers Kevin Phillips, Garry O'Connor, James McFadden and Marcus Bent are all injured and Jerome is keen to play his part in Birmingham's run-in.

Whoever's sticking them away the lads won't be complaining as long as we get the three points

"Whoever's sticking them away, the lads won't be complaining as long as we get three points - that's the important thing," Jerome explained.

The former Cardiff City striker is also relishing a busy period of the season that sees Birmingham regularly playing twice a week as they battle for a top-two finish.

"We would rather have the games ahead of us," Jerome added. "We'd rather play Saturday-Tuesday, especially if you don't get a good result at the weekend because then you're dying to go and prove yourself in the next game.

"But we're on a bit of a roll now so we have to continue that hot streak."

After successive home wins against Bristol City and the Saints, Alex McLeish's men find themselves on the road in South Yorkshire this week, facing Barnsley on Tuesday night, then travelling to Doncaster on Saturday.
