Carr is a free agent after being release by Newcastle in June
Birmingham City boss Alex McLeish says the club are close to offering a short-term deal to former Newcastle defender Stephen Carr.
Carr, 32, has been on trial with Blues for the last few weeks and McLeish admits something could happen.
"We'll talk to Stephen on Friday about the possibility of a short-term deal," he told the club website.
Birmingham are also considering a similar deal for ex-Aston Villa man Ulises De la Cruz.
"He (Carr) is in decent nick and both his and De la Cruz's figures in the sports science department are of a good standard," McLeish added.
Blues have been without a recognized right-back for several weeks with Stuart Parnaby out injured and Stephen Kelly allowed to join Stoke City on loan.
Seb Larsson has been filling in and has impressed McLeish with his attitude and application.
"Seb's done a great job for us at full-back but I know that's not his ideal position," he said.
"I don't think it will hamper his credibility playing there. He is looking back to his sharpest and hungriest since his injury."
