Sheridan is hoping to have a new face in his squad this weekend
Barrow want to sign an unattached winger to cover for injuries.
The Bluebirds have had injury problems to a number of key players this season including wingers Marc Goodfellow and Paul Rutherford.
Joint boss Darren Sheridan told BBC Radio Cumbria: "He's got a lot of Football League experience and is a very good player.
"We're talking to the player at the minute and he's deciding whether to come. Hopefully he will join us."
We've told him to take it steady because we want him back as quick as we can because he was flying before he had his injury

Goodfellow is still on the treatment table but Sheridan confirmed that Rutherford should return for Saturday's home game against Eastbourne Borough.
"Paul has been training with us all week," Sheridan said. "We've told him to take it steady because we want him back as quick as we can because he was flying before he had his injury.
"Hopefully he should be back in the squad this weekend."
Sheridan says he is happy at securing striker Andy Cook on a second month's loan from Carlisle United.
"Cooky is only a young good and is still learning," he said. "He's an impact player and is good to have in the squad so it's great to have him back."
